Detail:

An impressive period property that underwent an extensive remodelling and refurbishment programme. Hoban Design were appointed to re-organise the house from top to bottom, it had been previously extended in the 90s and suffered from an inefficient layout with too many small rooms, poor natural lighting and a mis match between the exterior grandeur and an un-inspiring interior.

Working with the client and their interior designer Hoban Design re-planned the house from top to bottom to achieve, amongst many other features, a super contemporary open plan lower ground floor with minimal structure visible, a dramatic master suite and a feature contemporary glazed element that cuts through the rear façade to bring much needed light across all floors via the stairwell.

Architecturally a feature staircase, designed by Hoban Design, with a strong ‘industrial’ style leads you down from the formal and period detailed entrance hall into the expansive and contemporary lower ground floor. Exposed steel beams and columns (engineered by Price and Myers) complement a seamless polished concrete floor giving the space a tactile and modern atmosphere that has hints of an industrial warehouse aesthetic.
“Just been on site. The house is better than my wildest dreams! I know there is a lot to do but wow!!!!! Thank you so much” Quote from the client during construction.
