Hoban Design were commissioned to provide an architectural proposal for full refurbishment of an existing 5 storey transitional housing unit in Luton. It was vital for the proposals to provide bright, safe and enjoyable spaces throughout.

The existing building is a vacant hostel currently comprising of 9 bedrooms, a top floor communal room and ancillary rooms. The facility is in poor condition. This section of the building required a full refurbishment internally of all rooms, conversion of the communal room into a studio flat, redesign of the ancillary rooms such as the ground floor kitchen/breakout room, and office.

This facility consists of x7 bedrooms for16-25yr olds and is in dated condition. The access and layout of corridors, kitchen and breakout room of this section appears very inefficient and illogical. Redesign of the layout of the access, corridors break out room, kitchen and laundry was required.
