Hoban Design were commissioned to develop proposals and submit a planning application for this existing extra-care housing unit on behalf of Sutton Housing society. The site is currently occupied by a split level three storey residential building providing independent housing for older people.
The current building provides 15 affordable rented flats for people over the age of 44 and 4 resident car parking spaces. The new development proposes a net total of 7 new affordable rented flats for people over the age of 55. the units will be a mix of 1B1P and 1B2P flats. The new scheme will provide parking for up to 8 cars.
The development proposes to retain the existing building and add an additional fourth setback storey above the existing front and rear three storey structures. A four storey extension to the rear wing along Carshalton Grove is proposed, providing residential accommodation at first, second and third floors and a vehicular route at ground floor providing access to the new rear car park.
