Director

Brian Hoban

With over 25 years of experience, Brian has been developing luxury bespoke properties throughout London. He has maintained an outstanding and award winning reputation amongst his clients and industry colleagues alike. Due to his keen eye for detail and quality of finish, he has achieved the finest designer homes for excellent value for money. In 1989, his first venture into the construction world was to establish Restore, a renowned London based specialist building facade cleaning and restoration company. He has carried out high profile restorations work on some of the most prestigious projects throughout central London. From 1997, Brian identified a niche in the market for the provision of luxuriously finished homes at competitive prices in the suburbs of SW London. His focus for the past fifteen years turned to refurbishment and construction projects of one off luxury residences throughout South West London and Surrey. In 2014 Brian co-founded Hoban Design ltd.
Director

Gary Hoban

Gary graduated from University College Dublin with an honours degree in Architecture. He was awarded the Thomas Ivory medal by UCD for achieving first place in Professional Practice Diploma. In 2007, he joined WCS Architects in Dublin where he oversaw the design and management of a wide variety of projects, from large scale urban mixed-use developments to private residences.

Gary joined TFF Architects in central London in 2010, a firm renowned for excellence in luxury residential design. As well as project managing high end residential schemes for private clients, Gary oversaw the co-ordination of a conversion scheme involving a major West End listed building to boutique flats on behalf of the Grosvenor Estate. Prior to establishing Hoban Design, he joined Tyler Mandic, a Chelsea based design and build firm.

As the company's co founder, Gary has amassed a wealth of experience from running the design teams for numerous residential projects on behalf of the Cadogan Estate, the Sloane Stanley Estate and private clients.

Director of Design

Chris Chapman

Chris has developed a wide breadth of experience in the design, management and completion of projects throughout central London. These range from large scale social housing schemes, luxury retail properties on Bond Street and sensitive renovation works to Grade II listed buildings. Chris has also delivered cutting edge contemporary new build homes on greenfield sites that integrate the latest standards in sustainable design. Having studied at Newcastle University, Chris has worked as Project Architect for a variety of high profile Central London practices. These include Dyer Grimes Architects, Hugh Cullum Architects and Tyler Mandic, where Chris worked together with Gary to manage the design teams on numerous projects for the Cadogan Estate. Chris has particular flair for conceptual design while also having extensive expertise in detailed working drawing packages and specification. With his hands-on approach to site management of contractors, Chris helps deliver the absolute best end product for clients for the best value for money.
Senior Architect

Barry McNaboe

Barry is a chartered architect with extensive experience in both the UK and Ireland delivering multi-million pound projects from initial inception to completion. He attended University College Dublin in Ireland achieving honours degrees in Architectural Science in 2004 and Architecture in 2007. Barry worked for NBK Architects in Dublin working on a variety of commercial and housing projects for developer clients. As an associate director at TFF Architects in London, Barry oversaw a variety of high residential refurbishments, extensions and new build projects throughout Central London and the South East for both private clients and developers.

Barry has a long standing interest in sustainable architecture. In 2010 he completed a Masters at Cardiff University in Environmental Design of Buildings. This has enabled Barry to deliver cost effective low energy projects as well as providing specialist advise on the latest environment technologies and products.

Senior Architect

Ed Calver

Edward is a chartered architect and has been working for the practice since 2018. At Hoban Design, Edward has been responsible for project running the delivery of private residential projects through every stage of the design process, concept to completion.

Edward joined the practice from Hopkins Architects, where he was working on the delivery of The Peninsula Hotel (London). Edward has previous experience working for Stride Treglown Architects, Zaha Hadid Architects and Marks Barfield Architects, where he gained a broad range of project experience across both residential and education sectors. Edward completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Liverpool, graduating with first class honours and completed his post graduate studies at UCL, graduating with a commendation in design.

Senior Interior Designer

Eleanor Farmer

Eleanor previously worked as a senior designer for Conran + Partners and StaffanTollgard Design Group. She oversaw large design teams on award winning projects, including the Five Star Award for Best Interior Design for a London apartment at the International Property Awards in 2015.

She has a keen eye for detail and process combined with extensive on-site experience, technical knowledge and experience in designing within the constraints of planning, listed buildings and conservation restrictions. Eleanor applies intelligent, well-informed design principles throughout all stages of design and construction to help deliver high-value finished products with desirable identities.

Pt2 Architect

Evan Hookway

Evan is a Part 2 Architect with experience in residential, commercial and railway architecture. He has worked on a wide range of projects ranging from small retro-fits to multi-million pound community spaces.
He completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Kingston University London, gaining his BArch degree as well as a distinction during his MArch.
Evan has keen interests in historic restoration and classical architecture, as well as a passion for craftsmanship in timber joinery and metalwork
Interior Designer

Marie Morrison

Marie has experience working on the design and FF&E for luxury residential project
throughout London, from a two-bed apartment in Aldgate to entire properties
overlooking Hyde Park. Marie has extensive knowledge of off the shelf / bespoke
furniture and lighting, as well as accessories suppliers.

Marie graduated from the University of St Andrews and KLC School of Design,
before working for a variety of interior design studios taking on commercial and
residential projects for clients based throughout the UK and globally.

Architect

Sophine Cheng

Sophine graduated from the University of Manchester in Architecture and progressed to become a registered Architect with ARB. Sophine has a wide range of experience in a variety of sectors, working as both an architect and Project Manager. She has worked in a number of award-winning projects including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Kingston University Town House.

Ben Fyfe-Williams

Ben is a qualified architect with a range of experience in both retail, residential and education sectors. He has experience in a variety of scales having worked on everything from bespoke roof extensions, large scale flatted developments, and multi-million pound education projects.

Having studied Architecture and Planning as an undergraduate in Bristol and Architecture at master’s level in London, Ben has been able to effectively manage complex design solutions and planning issues to achieve multiple successful permissions.

Ben has a keen interest in sustainability and how we as architects can improve the built environment and has experience in incorporating this into designs. He has a passion for delivering the highest quality of homes which work both architecturally, satisfy the client’s unique brief as well as making a positive contribution to the built environment.

Part 2 Architect

George Stewart

George is a Part 2 Architect who completed his undergraduate at The Bartlett School of Architecture and his postgraduate at The University of Greenwich where he achieved a distinction for his politically charged projects. His thesis was nominated for the RIBA President’s Dissertation Medal in 2023.

Previously, he worked as a Part 1 Architect in commercial practice contributing to large mixed-use and residential projects. Then, he worked with a small team where he assisted in the design and delivery of Iraq’s first pavilion at The Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2021.

George is very interested in projects with a strong social and political agenda, as well as how ornament can be used in contemporary architecture. In his spare time, George is a keen musician and also enjoys drawing.

Penny has been a loyal member of staff since 2019.
